He was arrested and imprisoned in a horrific situation of persecution and torture. As I have studied and prayed for the persecuted church over the last 7 years, it has transformed my understanding of how we love God. We love God not for the blessings He gives, even in Salvation, or for what we can aspire to be in Christ. We love Him for He was, and is, and is to come. I would encourage you to read, “in God's Underground” by Richard Wurmband. It is his testimony of following Christ, as he was imprisoned for 14 years in communist Romania. It will sober, inspire and purify those who read.
