How Can We Not Just Weep?

On March 26th 2015, a bill from the New York State Assembly reminded us again how far we have fallen as a nation.  By a resounding margin, New York States version of the U.S house of representatives, approved  AB 6221.  If this statute becomes law, it will make abortions legal in the third trimester of pregnancy.  While Kansas has recently passed a ban on brutal second trimester abortions, our state government seeks to lead the way innovating child murder.  How could we not simply weep?
To illustrate the timing of this procedure, lets use an example that hits particularly close to home… my own family.  My wife is pregnant with our fifth child; our son is due to arrive in the middle of the month of May.  My wife is in her third trimester, which began at about six months.  At this juncture our child is about three to four pound (or more), has developed almost all of his outward features and if necessary could live outside of the womb with help, in a premature birth.  Our baby can respond to sounds coming from outside his comfortable spot.  Some of these sounds are… Daddy praying for him at night while laying hands on Mommy’s belly… his almost three year old sister Ellie Mae saying, “I love you baby brotha”… the sound of his soon to be seen dog Shiloh barking or… the gentle and encouraging words of Mommy  as she caresses her womb with warm thoughts of the little life she loves, even though she has not yet seen him.  We can see him as well.  Because of how he is laying the doctor has outlined where his head, his feet and his bum are located.  We have all with great joy felt seen his kicks through Mommy’s extended belly.  This is the life of a living human being in the third trimester and it is marvelous.
My illustration is necessary to properly characterize the horror of the third trimester abortion the New York State House wants to employ, where a “medical professionally” (not necessarily a doctor) would administer a shot of poison to the babies heart.  Interestingly babies at much earlier stages of development can not only respond to sound, but also heat and cold and yes can respond to stress and feel pain.  In the third trimester, where the ability to feel pain is fully developed, is when these “medical professionals” inject poison into the heart of the child to destroy the life of one made in the image of God.  From there they would merely extract the child and dispose of them as no more than mere rubbish.  What’s more, for a woman to have the procedure, there are almost no restrictions, which compounds the heinous nature of this procedure.   Even if the woman were in no physical danger if having the child, she could obtain the procedure if proving she is having mental stress related to having the child.  If that sounds horrendous, it is.  My hope is that the mere thought of this murderous procedure,  makes you as angry and sick to your stomach as it makes mine.
Let me be clear.  I oppose abortion at any stage, but the nature of this procedure and the law that makes it a potential in the state I live in makes it particularly repugnant.  The fact that this was not reported in any of the local news outlets or national public media is unfathomable.  To be fair the bill has not yet been reach status of law, for it must now pass the state senate and has a low possibility of passing.  Yet the overwhelming nature of its approval in the assembly should cause us much concern if not alarm.  So why has there been little coverage?  I can’t answer that fully, but is it possible people just don’t care as long as it does not impact there bottom line?  In Rochester New York one of the local T.V. Stations dutifully reports on how the state government wastes resources and wallows in corruption.  Upon moving to New York state, I found it refreshing, until I noticed almost all the reports were about the mismanagement of public funds and tax dollars.  When it comes to what really matters, they are silent.  I don’t blame them for they are in the business of expanding their business and their viewing public is generally more interested in their own bottom line, than the plight of murdered children.  If it brought viewers they would report it.  How did we get to this place?
In the first place we live in a culture of death, even though we pretend we do not.  To kill is to destroy the image of God, regardless of what they may believe.  Many Americans will look at the horrors of Islamic State militants in killing men woman and children in the most vile and barbaric ways, yet never bat an eye at the fact that in their own town operates an evil organization (Planned Parenthood) that has a hand in killing an unborn child every 90 seconds.  That works out to 960 per day, 28,800 per month and 345,600 per year.  What a sobering loss of life, and every bit as barbaric as Isis terrorists, for these babies are poisoned, mutilated and dismembered in the name of medicine on behalf of woman’s rights.  Yet Planned parenthood wants more butchery, now stating life does not begin until birth.  Consider the ramifications of tthis lie, a lie which flies directly in the face of medical proof of life, not just in the third trimester, but at conception.  You may say, “Well that is Planned Parenthood”, but it has national political legs, as this past Sunday Debbie Wasserman Schultz(Demacratic National Commitee Chairperson) parroted this statment on national TV.   Is it any wonder that the news does not report this genocide, when most simply ignore it happens in their home towns?  We live in a culture where life is no more sacred than anywhere else in the world and this has dulled many a person’s sensitivity to right and wrong.
Secondly we must believe that we are living at the close of history.  Jesus told us that near the  end of the age, because of lawlessness the love of many will grow cold.  Is not the blind eye and the deaf ear of the general population to our nations proclivity towards death, a clear sign of the light of love being extremely cold?  God’s two greatest commands are to love Him with all of who were are and our neighbor as yourself, yet loving neighbor means we place them before ourselves.  Is there anymore selfish, narcissistic and indulgent society on the planet than ours?  This is a result of cold love from a lawless society in bondage to sin and self.  Truly the only solution is to pray for and live in a way of revealing Christ, who alone can bring life, law and love to the human heart through being born again; but this cannot happen until we frame humanity’s rebellion in the sight of the Holy God who is life.  Romans 1:28-32 is instructive to the behavior and moral climate of our day at the close of history…
Romans 1:28-32 (KJV) 28  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29  Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32  Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Can’t you hear the chorus of cheers for those who commit these acts against the God of all creation who gives life to all men?  We see this in all the applause for those who teach sexual freedom with no consequence and jeer those who object based on conscience or religious faith.  We hear it in the cheers for those who shout about protecting a woman’s right to choose to determine whether they want to have a child or not, because its their body.
Doesn’t that last sentence sound enlightened?  Well, it is not enlightened, but we allow it to frame the argument, because we are afraid to frame the argument appropriately for being branded as sexist or too religious and simple to get with the times.  Let’s be honest abortion is not about protecting woman.  Abortion is about raping the mind of woman.  Abortion is about destroying the beauty and calling of woman.  Abortion is about the destruction of the woman’s body.  Abortion is about political manipulation.  Abortion is about being our own god.  In my next post I will cover these five statements.  Until that time how could you not just weep?

This is all very true i completley agree with Pastor Mike. How can we stare at the T.V. and condem the men of the Isis Terrorists when at home we are killing unborn Children. In the Bible in Matthew 19 when the Disciples are about to turn the children away Christ says “Let the children come to me.” in Psalm 127:3 it says “Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward.” SO why are we killing these Children? Does it make us feel better or something? Does it make us feel powerful? NO! Most people get abortions because they don't want the trouble, but hey your the one who made the mistake why punish the innocent Children? I am against abortion in so many ways. Thank you pastor Mike for an eye opening blog mabey more people will finally realize how wrong this is. And congratulations on you coming baby.
